The Fun Educational Puppetry Experience

Roll up, roll up! Come and see the hilariously funny puppet show, “Circus in Disarray”! Be captivated by Larry, the cheeky dancing llama, and awed by the talents of Ralph, the plate-spinning dog! Marvel at Vern, the most beautiful bird in the world, and be dazzled by the powers of Ikis, the crystal-charming snake.

See lots of fun puppets performing live circus skills! Amazing characters, bubbles, audience interaction, and rogue penguins make this a fantastic show not to be missed!

This amazing show is designed to entertain, educate, and inspire young minds.

It also includes an optional educational puppetry discussion outlining the history, performance techniques, and global traditions of puppetry.

 

ABOUT THE PERFORMER

The Puppet Circus is performed by David Leach, one of Melbourne’s most sought-after entertainers. David has been entertaining crowds for over 15 years and has extensive puppetry experience, including working with the “William May Corporation” (producers of “The Hobbit” and “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe”, among others) on general performances since 2003.

David has also performed over 700 children’s puppet shows at “Hocus Pocus Puppets”, where he was a resident puppeteer for four years.

 

AGE RECOMMENDATIONS

  • The Puppet Circus: Ideal for Foundation to Grade 4, with educational extensions available for Grades 5 and 6
  • Puppet Antics: A specially designed version tailored for younger audiences aged 2–5 years

The show includes:

  • Professional puppet theatre staging in regal gold, red, and purple
  • PA sound system
  • Internal theatrical lighting
  • Bubble machine effects
  • Interactive audience participation

 

COMPLIMENTARY EDUCATIONAL PUPPETRY DISCUSSION

Each booking can include an optional complimentary 20-minute puppetry discussion and question-and-answer session. This educational component introduces students to:

  • The origins and history of puppetry
  • Different puppetry traditions and styles from around the world
  • Basic puppetry performance techniques
  • Character creation and storytelling through puppetry

Selected students will also have the opportunity to demonstrate puppetry forms and techniques during this session.

 

VICTORIAN CURRICULUM CONNECTIONS

The educational discussion can be tailored to support a variety of Victorian Curriculum learning areas and classroom topics, including:

  • Story design and narrative development
  • Push-and-pull mechanisms and movement
  • Presentation and performance skills
  • Creativity and confidence building
  • Sound, staging, and theatrical lighting
  • Performing Arts and Design Technologies

PUPPETRY WORKSHOPS

Additional puppetry workshops are available and can be customised to suit different year levels and learning outcomes. Workshop options include:
